;Colleen Patricia Williams ;AA Art- Allan Hancock College, Santa Maria CA ;5335 Daisy St, #114 ;Springfield, OR 97478 USA ;541-654-0153 ; ;Artist’s Statement ; ; ; I’m fascinated with color! I love to paint objects from nature because of the infinite variety of colors to be found there. Nature has a limitless variety of abstract shapes, making it’s forms ideal subject matter for me. ; The biggest influence on me as an artist has been the works of Georgia O’Keefe. I admire her large florals, her ability to make the eye focus on the image on her canvas, to see the flower closeup. ;I don’t consider my self any one genre, as I find labels to be inherently limiting and art is infinite. I paint what calls to me, I paint what catches my eye in the hopes of letting others see what I see. ; As an artist, I’m also fascinated with the process of art, not just the end result. I believe that the creative process is inherent in human beings, a need that has found outlet from the cave paintings of the Neolithic to the contemporary art scene involving computer generated images. ; I have over the years transitioned from acrylics to oils. I liken oil painting to painting with gems. Oils have enhanced my fascination with color and form. ; Currently, I’m doing a series of paintings with flowers, and images taken from nature. ; When I’m finished with this series, I have a series of images, abstract and representational, in the works, as well works in progress that explore the connections between all human beings. ; ;Resume ; ; ;v 1991, as an art student, Best of Show for a pastel work, Student Art Competition. ;v 1991, Second Place and an Honorable Mention in the Lompoc Art Association yearly art competition. ;v In 1994, I graduated art school, and moved to Oregon.
