Born in Silver Spring, Maryland, USA, on Jan 21st, 1974 as a dual national (USA and UK), Ian Rees was raised in the US, UK, and Philippines, and educated in Connecticut and Arizona, USA. He recieved a bachelors degree in History from the University of Arizona in 2000, has traveled all over the globe, and now resides (mostly) in Tucson, Arizona, nestled amongst the magestic Saguaro cacti.  He can also be seen walking the mountain trails of Colorado, the canyons of Utah and New Mexico, the canals of Amsterdam, Brugges, and Venice.  His favorite subjects (for his drawings) these days seem to be Flemish (Dutch and Belgian), Parisian, and Venetian architecture, portraits of old men, rock stars, and pretty women (Renoir and Tissot are my inspiration-I have copied thier works in the past-they can be seen on my website ) . My inspirations also include Cannaletto, Rembrandt, Degas, Ernst, Wittel, Gerome and many others...

;

He draws with Faber- Castell color pencils for his color pencil pieces.  And uses either Koh i Noor or Staedtler pencils, plus a Quicker Clicker mechanical pencil for detail, to create his black and white pieces.  He usually uses Strathmore Bristol paper.  Though sometimes he uses Fabriano paper.

In addition to the originals themselves, Ian also sells archival (high quality) prints for a fraction of the original's cost. And would love to hear from you if you need a commission done... by email:  reesmeister@hotmail.com
