 Born in north Texas in 1956 Ace Layton has studied art in all its various forms since he was old enough to hold a pencil. He studied life form drawing and composition at the Kimball Museum and the Museum of Natural Science in Ft. Worth. Later he studied Painting and Airbrush Technique at North Harris County College and the University of Houston. He earned a degree in mechanical design at the Design Center of Houston. He has worked as a oceanic and geophysical draftsman, an artist animator/programmer, a video, film and television producer and director , a comedy writer, a professional musician for 15 years, a graphic designer for over 25 years, and has been working in the field of digital art and illustration since the late 1970s when personal computers first became available. His illustrations have been described by many as having the richness and power of the Golden Age of science fiction and fantasy art, rarely seen in the digital field. His deep appreciation for old world and modern day masters of illustration and fine art shines through in his visionary art work with an excitement and power that is undeniable. Today Ace makes his home in far northwest Houston with his loving family, and enjoys providing imaginative illustrations to clients locally and around the world throught the Internet.
