;Born in France in 1946; ;Living in Portugal since several years, DUANER is an eclectic artist whose paintings have such depth and richness that sometimes they pass into the realm of fantasy. ;His various creations bring together a combination of humour, mystery and the unknown. ;Each of his works contains the synthesis of the search for particular forms, colours, pigments and concoctions using unusual materials. ;According to DUANER “inspiration is like a deserted beach. The irregular rhythm of the tides representing the ebb and flow of your emotions”. ;What he learnt, and the diverse influences he received from renowned artists whom he met in his adolescence, have stayed with him over the years, and emerge when he has need of them. “These contributions help me, consciously and subconsciously, to harness and control the emotions of my inspiration, allowing me to fix them in “pictural aeternalis”, ; ;Although he first started to paint in the early 60´with M. Lutz, one among the Masters at the school of St. Tropez, who gave him the basis of his technique, Duaner discovered “non-figurative painting”, in the informal surroundings of the studio of Jean Fautrier. ;A short time after the death of this Master, through the invitation of a Portuguese friend, Duaner met the famous couple: Vieira da Silva and Arpad Szènes. He visited their studio on Rue l´Abbé Carton very often, and had the privilege to share with them (together with Eduardo Luis and other friends), many moments of inspirational camaraderie at their retreat of Yèvres le Chatel where many Portuguese artists chose to reside. ; ;At the beginning of the 1970´s, he met Bioulès, Cana, Dolla, Valensi, Viallat, who formed the group “support-surface”. These painters, since 1966, had been experimenting with new uses of materials and textures. In his painting “peinture-sculpture”, Duaner characterizes these techniques. Especially through his choice of “canvas” and the richness of the surface texture. ;His work is a good reflection of all these influences and all these painters. ;Time to time, he’s also sculptor and photographer. ; ;Individual Exhibitions: ;1969 – Paris (Galerie Vidal) ;1971 – Los Angeles (Gallery Glupzinski) ;1976 – Brussels (Galerie Dachkine) ;1978 – Nairobi (Karen´s Gallery) ;1981 – Paris (Galerie Montparnasse) ;1999 – Távora (Quinta do Convento) ;1999 – Porto (French Cultural Center) ;1999 - Tabuaço (Galeria do Turismo) ;1999 – Póvoa de Varzim (Novotel Beach Hotel) ;2001 – Braga (Museum “Nogueira da Silva” ) ;2002 – Porto (House Order of Medics) ;2002 – Estoril (Centro dos Congressos) ;2003 – Lisbon (Galeria do Ganhão) ; ;Contact: + 351 966 347 049 ; Mail: duaner_peintre@yahoo.fr ; Web Site: http://duanerexpo.free.fr ; ; ; ; ; |
