For the past 25 years, Laura Shepardson has created a variety of impressive and eclectic artwork. Often inspired by the diverse and changing settings of her life, she has expressed her unique creative voice through a wide assortment of mediums.Starting in New Hampshire she explored the versatility of clay, giving life to many pragmatic and ornamental pieces. Laura then moved to Key West, where the colorful tropical environment sparked her interest in watercolor painting.The island life and ever-chnaging seascapes were a rich source of inspiration. While living in St. John Laura began using bamboo to create an original line of bamboo jewelry that was sold throughout the islands. After moving to Puerto Rico, she came across another island medium to fuel her artistic enthusiasm: calabash gourds. Using this local material Laura produced a fanciful collection of carved gourds adorned with vibrant patterns and tropical scenes. These too were sold successfully. Residing now in southern Oregon, Laura is captivated once again by paint and brush. Her renewed focus has brought about some of her richest work yet. |
